Husband ‘commits suicide’ by consuming poison after stabbing wife to death
A husband committed suicide by consuming poison after stabbing his wife to death in Gafargaon Upazila of Mymensingh. The man consumed poison while absconding on Saturday after killing his wife last Thursday. He later died while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Nazmul Alam. He is the son of Mohammad Ali of Kurshapur village in Jashra union of Gafargaon Upazila. He stabbed his wife Marzia Akhtar (29) to death on Thursday. Police said she was mentally unstable.
Mymensingh Medical College Police Camp In-charge SI Shafiq Uddin confirmed the incident. He said that the deceased Nazmul Alam had consumed poison before killing his wife. After killing his wife, he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday and died while undergoing treatment this morning. His body was handed over to his relatives after an autopsy.
Gafargaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shibirul Islam said that mentally unstable Nazmul Alam had been absconding since he stabbed his wife to death on Thursday night. A murder case was filed at the police station on behalf of the deceased’s family. But Nazmul drank poison while in hiding. He later died today while undergoing treatment.
